Sleep and life expectancy

Medical studies state that the "average" adult needs eight hours of sleep a night.

Our current lifestyles in the fast lane with all the things we can do via technology alters that eight hours for many people. Staying up on the internet, game playing, shooting off emails, facebook, twitter, on-line dating, the list goes on. Now days a person can go to college from their computer and never even step inside of a academic building to get a degree.

What is all of this doing to us?
Well, it is shortening our lives. If not frying out our eyeball and increasing radiation from all the electronic devices we use and/or carry, the lack of sleep is shaving years maybe even a decade off our lives.

Add pain to that, now what?
I personally know people that have to sleep in chairs because it hurts too much to lay down and sleep. My own personal experience prior to surgery was that I could not roll over onto my left side or my entire arm would send jolts of tingling vibrations of pain from my neck all the way to my fingertips.

What can be done?
Well, turning off the TV, computer, cell phone, and actually spending time with people around you, or the dog for that matter. Regarding pain from spinal stenosis, lumbar herniations, cervical disk herniations, degenerative disk disease and the like, the answer is getting the problem fixed.

Imagine in a month from today being able to wake up and actually get out of bed pain free. Sleep that whole night without rolling over in agony.
